(Hershey) -- Cancer permanently changes the lives of survivors and their loved ones. It also affects the doctors who treat cancer. witf's Craig Layne talked with Dr. Gordon Kauffman from Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He's one of several doctors who've written poetry and essays for Facing Cancer Together.

The American Cancer Society's Camp Can-Do is a "fun fun fun and safe" place for kids who are facing cancer to enjoy summer activities.

The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Central Pennsylvania in Hershey offers cancer patients and their caregivers a safe and inviting "home away from home." And, at no cost.

Bonnie Kelly, the RN Clinical Coordinator at PinnacleHealth Fox Chase Cancer Center, met John, a cancer patient suffering from an aggressive brain tumor, shortly after his diagnosis.  He asked her if he'd be able to hang in there long enough to make it to certain events that were important to his family... like walking his daughter down the aisle at her wedding. 

Meet Dr. Rajiv Panikkar, a medical oncologist at Geisinger in Central PA.  Although Panikkar trained in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, he has returned to his hometown to bring quality care to the people he grew up with.

When dealing with particularly challenging medical issues, like a cancer diagnosis and treatment, it can be hard to keep track of who and what is going on around you.

(Chambersburg) -- Some cancer patients say they believe a positive attitude and family support can make a world of difference. Husbands, fathers and boyfriends can play a big role in helping women struggling with breast cancer.

Living with cancer is no easy task. Keeping up with what may seem like constant doctor's visits, remembering to take prescriptions and studying the latest research can easily become unmanageable when coupled with emotional turmoil and treatments that may make your brain foggy.

When Joel LaMarco started having back pain and losing lots of weight, his father Romeo urged him to go to the emergency room.  What the scans showed changed both of their lives forever.
