Colon cancer survivor, Lynn Eib, is a patient advocate who provides emotional and spiritual support to cancer patients.  She also runs several support groups to help people process their emotions and connect with other people on a similar journey.   She thinks support groups are a very important part of the healing process because they are a safe place to laugh, cry and share with others who are walking in the same shoes.

Lynn says that even if a person is just there to listen, they have a validation that they’re not alone in their experiences. You can watch more of Lynn’s story here.

Ovarian cancer survivor, Sandy Good, attends one of Lynn’s groups.  She says that a support group is different than the support you receive from family, friends, and a church group, because you can connect with others who are experiencing the same things you are.  It gives her hope to see survivors that have lived for ten or fifteen years beyond their cancer diagnosis, and she is offering hope herself, by opening up about her journey.
