She says that her own experience has given her a unique perspective on treating her patients especially when it comes to diagnosing a woman with cancer. She tells her patients, "Take one step at a time, one moment at a time." And, she says that cancer has been a gift in her life. She's been able to examine what's important in her life, like the support of family and friends. And, it's helped her understand how important it is to treat the whole patient- mind, body and spirit.
