Thanks for your comments Cherie. We balance these questions all the time with our own children. When a classmate was diagnosed this year with cancer, it did test my "in theory" beliefs. We all want to protect our children but being able to answer their questions and have these conversations reassured all of us. I think for our family talking through it also made my children feel less distant from their friend who continues to be a brave, strong trooper!

Hi Debbie, Thank you for getting the word out (LITERALLY) about books like mine that are meant to bring hope and an additional tool in fighting battles together as a family. It's been a joy to work with my illustrators, kids at MD Anderson Cancer Center, some of the bravest people I've ever known. Facing the known is frightening enough, but when it is the UNknown we go up against, it is so much worse. I appreciate your making it a little less scary. c:
